A Royal Crown Derby Aves Gold Soup Tureen and Solid Silver soup Ladle. It is a piece of luxury fine bone china featuring one of the most celebrated patterns from the British manufacturer Royal Crown Derby. The intricate design is adapted from an embroidery pattern created by the painter Albert Gregory. It was first introduced to Royal Crown Derby tableware in 1932 as the "Avesbury" pattern. The pattern is hand-decorated with lavish 22-carat gold. It features dramatic birds of paradise and peacocks with long, elegant trailing feathers set against a backdrop of detailed foliage and landscapes. The tureen is an oval shape resting on four decorative scroll feet. It includes two integrated side handles and a matching lid with a central handle.
Each piece is handmade in England. Royal Crown Derby is a historically significant company, established around 1750, and was granted the "Royal" title by Queen Victoria in 1890.
The silver ladle has the IC Makers Mark and is 18th Century from Dublin, Ireland.
