This framed print is a 20th-century reproduction of a 19th-century military illustration titled "Garde Impériale, Artillerie à pied" (Imperial Guard, Foot Artillery). It depicts the uniform of French Imperial Guard foot artillery soldiers around the year 1805, as indicated by the text on the print.

The print features two foot soldiers and one mounted officer with a cannon and limber, all in the distinctive blue and red uniforms of the Napoleonic Imperial Guard artillery.
The original illustrations of this type were often created by renowned military artists such as Auguste Raffet, Alfred de Marbot, or Louis-Charles Bombled in the 19th century.

The Imperial Guard was an elite corps of Napoleon Bonaparte's army, known for their discipline and distinctive uniforms. The date 1805 corresponds to the early period of the Napoleonic Wars when the Guard was being formally organized.

Some minor chips to frame have been painted in so not visible.
